Besides the extraordinary scientific programme provided by the Conference, we are also eager to welcome you to the BIC social events.

WELCOME DINNER

The Welcome Dinner will take place on a historical panoramic terrace, built along the defensive walls of Palermo, between Porta Felice and Piazza Kalsa. The terrace is surrounded by some of the most beautiful palaces and gardens in the city. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and be caressed by the light sea breeze. The Welcome Dinner will take place after the BIC Opening Session. The buffet service will run continuously from 7:30 p.m. until later on in the evening (approx. 10:30 p.m.) in order to welcome all conference delegates, including latecomers, and allow them to enjoy a first glimpse of the friendly atmosphere and a delicious food at the BIC. Come in as you arrive and enjoy yourselves.

CONFERENCE DINNER - SOLD OUT

The Conference dinner will be served at the farm restaurant of what was an ancient, fortified building, in a suggestive location in the countryside close to the city of Palermo, which extends over 160 hectares. The dinner will be served in the farm’s suggestive monumental courtyard, ensuring a colourful and bright atmosphere. Allow yourself to be inebriated by the scents and colours of the Sicilian land, by the beautiful vineyards and lush vegetation and flowering blooms, while tasting a traditional Sicilian dinner featuring local dishes.

ARRIVEDERCI DINNER

After the Conference closure, we will say ‘Arrivederci’ with a special seafood dinner in a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea, located in the ancient Sicilian tuna fishing area of Arenella, in Palermo. The dinner will take place in the ex-‘tonnara’ or tuna trap in Arenella, founded by the Florio family in the 1600s for the collection and processing of tuna following the ‘mattanza’ (ancient method of tuna fishing). The Florio ‘tonnara’ is, perhaps, the most elegant tuna fishery in all of Sicily, as it was chosen by the famous Florio family as one of their favourite family residences. Over the centuries, it was visited by the international Ghota, including the Tsars Nicholas I and his wife Alexandra. Under the stars and along the seaside, accompanied by the sea’s gentle crashing waves, is where we will bid farewell at the end of the three-day BIC 2023. The mood will be set for a black & white Belle Epoque style evening, by the white of the moon and the black of the Mediterranean Sea by night.
