We highly recommend you buying a 3-days ACTV<\/strong> subscription, that will enable you to jump on ferries (Vaporetto<\/em>) whenever needed. A Vaporetto<\/em> ride costs 7.50 euros each, but it helps covering longer distances in less time: Venice does not have buses nor taxis (only water ones!). Please check the official ACTV – Venezia Unica app<\/a> and website<\/a> here.<\/p>\n

Be wary of your smartphone<\/strong> GPS as it won\u2019t work in the narrowest streets. Maps<\/strong> and “walking transfers<\/strong>” are going to be offered in order to help you navigate the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n

WELCOME DINNER<\/h1>\n

The Welcome Dinner will take place after the BIC Opening Session on Friday 17th<\/sup>September, \u00a0from 7:30 pm until late. Join us in Venice\u2019s historic and secluded garden overlooking the Laguna: our al-fresco service will run continuously, so that all conference delegates, including the latecomers, can take in a first glimpse of the friendly atmosphere while tasting a delicious bite right behind Piazza San Marco.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the venetian golden hour from the same viewpoint of Princess Sissi, who loved this garden so much that she asked her husband, Franz Joseph I. von \u00d6sterreich, to revoke the public concession so that she could have it all for herself.<\/p>\n

Immersed in the narrow\u00a0campielli<\/em>\u00a0of Sestiere Castello and surrounded by a magical vine-covered pergola, one of the oldest, most traditional restaurants in the area (dates back to the late XV century) will host our Conference Dinner.
The most authentic venetian cuisine, seasonal and based on fish and seafood, will be offered together with some of the Venetian \u2018magic\u2019! Note<\/strong>: it involves blowing bubbles and fire but no, no witchcraft is included.<\/p>\n

After the Conference closure, we will say Arrivederci<\/em> with a fun, laid-back dinner in the Laguna.
We are going to sail outside Venice\u2019s inner city and reach the Lido, on the outer islands, while watching the sun set and the stars rise. And since the location calls for it, why not wear white and pretend that we\u2019re extras for the famous Luchino Visconti\u2019s masterpiece, Morte a Venezia<\/em>? That white, turn-of-the-century glam. Just like in the movie, you may enjoy a little stroll on the beach, hence suitable footwear is advised. Let\u2019s enjoy the Laguna from an uncommon viewpoint as the Venetians do.<\/p>\n

Biennale Architettura 2021, How will we live together?<\/strong> Curated by Hashim Sarkis.<\/em><\/h4>\n

The International Exhibition<\/a> includes 112 Participants from 46 countries, with a growing delegation from Africa, Latin America and Asia and with a wide female representation. The Exhibition is organized into five scales, three are exhibited in the Arsenale and two in the Central Pavilion: Among Diverse Beings, As New Households, As Emerging Communities, Across Borders, As One Planet<\/em>. A part of the Exhibition is titled How will we play together?,<\/strong> a contribution by 5 international participating architects who have designed a project dedicated to children\u2019s play, on exhibit at Forte Marghera and open to the public. Moreover, check Biennale\u2019s collateral events<\/a>, spread throughout Venice.<\/p>\n

Peggy Guggenheim Collection <\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of the most important museums of European and American art of the twentieth century in Italy. It is located in Peggy Guggenheim\u2019s former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni<\/strong>, on the Grand Canal in Venice. The museum presents Peggy Guggenheim’s personal collection, masterpieces from the Hannelore B. and Rudolph B. Schulhof collection, a sculpture garden as well as temporary exhibitions. Museo Ebraico di Venezia and its quarter<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Jewish Museum of Venice<\/a> is situated in the Campo of the Ghetto Novo, between the two most ancient Venetian synagogues. It is a small but interesting museum founded in 1953 by the Jewish Community of Venice.
The presence of Jews in the area that would then become Venetian republic is documented from as early as the first centuries A.C. According to the tradition they arrived in Venice, a great trading centre between East and West, towards the beginning of the XI century \u2013 as a matter of fact even Shakespeare wrote about it, Shylock and the Merchant of Venice, anyone?
The museum is built in two areas, the first one devoted to the cycle of Jewish festivities and to objects used for liturgy, the latter deals with the history of Venetian Jews through images and objects, like important examples of goldsmith and textile manufacture made between the 16th and the 19th centuries, a lively witnessing of the Jewish tradition.
The ticket includes the entrance to the new temporary museum and the guided tour in Italian or in English to the Levantine Synagogue and the Luzzatto midrash. Mind that the museum is closed on Saturdays \u2013 shabbath<\/em>!<\/p>\n

Street food tour: ombre, cicchetti, bacari e tramezzini<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Venice also is known for its ancestral bar culture. Locals hang out in typical establishments called bacari <\/em><\/strong>where their thirst is sedated with various types of Spritz and ombre <\/em>(wine by the glass) while snacking on cicchetti<\/em><\/strong> and tramesin<\/em>\u2013 which are bite-size portions of classic dishes and soft, stuffed, crustless sandwiches. These drinks and snacks are served over the clock. If you fancy a drink and a snack, check are our very own, genuine, selection.<\/p>\n

Please mind that given the current pandemic situation, you might need to reserve a table a few hours in advance.<\/em><\/p>\n
